Enjoy positive Christmas atmosphere in the Church of St. Saviour.
PragueClassic is organising celebratory concerts of Mozart’s Requiem – An Evening with Mozart – in honour of the famous composer on Saturdays 15 and 22 October.
The Requiem is Mozart’s last piece of work. It was commissioned by an anonymous customer. Mozart died suddenly in the middle of the work, however, and the requiem remained unfinished. Mozart’s student F. X. Süssmayr completed the piece after his teacher’s death. The composition also became globally renowned thanks to the Academy Award-winning film Amadeus directed by Miloš Forman, one of our most prominent film directors.
Robert Hugo, a renowned artist and the first chair organist of St Salvator Church will play the organ. Leading opera soloists will perform with the accompaniment of a mixed choir. The orchestra duties will be taken up by Capella Regia Praha, a top-notch orchestra that became one of the most sought-after ensembles performing ancient music soon after its formation in 1992.
Since September 8th, you can enjoy a brand new musical project called Romantic concerts – the best of the classics. It will take place in the Jesuit Hall of the Růže hotel – a pearl of South Bohemia, every day from 19:00. The concert – The Best of Classics – performed by ensemble Orchestra Czech Classical Soloists (Prague) led by cellist Kryštof Lecian will feature music of the most famous classical masters. The concert combines the most technically challenging compositions for cello with a music for string quintet.

Both residents and visitors of Prague may find interesting that Vivaldi donated his collection to a lover and patron of music, count Václav of Morzin, who, at his residence (Nerudova street, Prague 1), employed a band consisting strictly of professional players. Antonio Vivaldi gave the count his cycle II Cimento Dell'armonia E Dell'inventione, containing Vivaldi’s most famous violin concertos, including The Four Seasons.
Our concerts will be performed by the well-known Capella Regia Praha, and the solo violin part will be played by Viktor Mazáček, a member of the Czech Philharmonic. Artistic Director of the ensemble is a renowned organist and expert on early music Robert Hugo, who will perform several organ pieces (Bach, Dvořák, Muffat).

For listeners of organ concerts in the church of St. Salvator is exhibition augmenting the musical experience and it´s free. Christian Helwing says: „My work opens forms of intuitive and reflective perception that are not opposed to each other hierarchically, but actually connect. The audience is an integral part of my art.“
